This Moving Speech Might Make You Cry

This week Jameson sent me a video of a coach giving a speech to a Little League Baseball team after they’d just lost a huge game.

The kids are sobbing, you can see how much the game meant to them, and the speech that followed was something you’ve got to see…

It’s a lesson for life on being a fighter, not quitting, and taking pride in the things that really matter.

  • I recently moved to Rhode Island, and I’m so happy you included this video in your segment. It spoke to me on many levels.

Thanks for your take on the person who fights with heart, saying there’s something there to be admired. I sometimes feel like people are wondering why I haven’t just given up already, and it’s hard to blame them. Feeling foolish can be reason enough to give up. So, it’s nice to know that maybe on the sidelines there are people (hopefully, good-looking British ones) who are rooting for me, too.

  • What a beautiful, inspirational video! As a psychotherapist who specializes in working with children, I am thrilled to see someone like David Belisle encouraging those young boys by focusing on the process and journey rather than the outcome. That’s what builds strong self worth and sense of mastery. Those Little Leaguers gained a valuable lesson in pride, integrity and fortitude…the qualities of a fighter. :)

Thank you Jameson for finding this gem. Much appreciation to you, Matthew, for sharing! Xoxo

P.S. I am sooo ready for June to arrive…I’m in for the retreat!!!

  • I like that you mentioned the gym. Good example. I started to go to gym a year ago, I have never been really sporty, but somehow I learned to go 4-times a week and started to love it. In July I found a personal trainer and he gave it wholy different dimension. He convinced me that I need to do weight lifting. I felt the same, but was a little shy to go to weight lifting area full of big guys. I did not feel confident enough to lift surounded by them. But Peter gave me great instructions and also told me how he admires girls who lift (most go to aerobic classes, yoga or just do some cardio). So now I put all my efforts into it, sometimes I sweat like hell, but damn it feels so good. And it is not because you see results immediatelly. When you are trying to gain muscles, you won’t see them just after your work out. It is lenghty process! But it is the effort which matters. This add me so much confidence that it transfers into other areas of my life (work life, love life…) And I won’t lie – I kind of like admirings looks those big guys are giving me in the weight lifting area :)))
So girls – gym with the help of a personal trainer can be a a good practice for you to become more confident, including confidence in the interaction with guys ;)

  • This is by far my favoite! Best timed and home hitting message for me. The video of the boys was poinyent, but your words are what brought me to happy tears.
    Thank you, Mathew.

  • Hi Matt, I have been watching your videos and getting all of your products within my reach for nearly two years now, I go to sleep by listening to your videos…I don’t know how to describe my appreciation in words and I can’t believe myself to become a totally different person compare to last two years ago.

  • love this vedio. The effort is the reward! The result doesn’t matter. The process is everything! The process of finding yourself is in the process of finding the man you love.

  • Two words for this video…AWESOME & PERFECT!! This was an awesome video and although I’m late watching it, it’s perfect timing for me!! I am training to run my very first marathon. I just completed week 22 of 25 weeks of training…and the longest distance I have ever run of 20 miles. It’s been a long and at times tough road. I have been feeling disappointed that I’m not as fast as other runners or as fast as I want to be. I know I’ve progressed since my first half marathon last year, yet I have been feeling let down by myself. THIS IS CRAZY because I’ve put in so much time and effort. So my new mindset is to finish with my head held high…knowing that I finish something that most people won’t even attempt…no matter how long it takes me. Thank you so much Matt!! ~XOXO

  • Hi Mattew,

I love most of the videos you make. I am actually at a very crazy busy part of my life and at the end of the day when I can not do everything perfectly I feel extremely tired. So I put this motto “The effort is the reward” on a board and put it on my fridge and I get energy from it every time I look at it.

I especially loved that video when you analyzed your own response in a live TV show. Please make videos of how to have emotional intelligence which I think is much more important than having IQ.

Thank you so much for working from the bottom of your heart. That is what I feel and get from your videos.
